"The Grand Opening"

As Katie's dad likes to call it. The day when our beautiful baby girl Lucy Marie Nielsen was born to us. Sunday, July 6, 2008 at 9:47 am, weighing in at 6 lbs., 11 oz. and 19.5 in., Lucy came into this world on our Day of Rest. However, it was a different situation for Scott and I. The morning started out very early with an epidural for me, which involved a very large needle being poked into my back. I needed the relief an epidural's effect would bring so that I could gather up my much needed rest for labor. After several hours of blissful sleep, my rest was coming to an end. It was time to meet Lucy. And after only 30 minutes of intense pushing, we did. Lucy's Apgar score came back a 9 out of 10and the new father held his daughter. Thus begins The Nielsen Chronicles.
